Quality Assurance

ŠKODA JS a.s. has over the long term been developing its Integrated Management System (IMS), i.e., the basic tool for managing all the company’s processes. The IMS incorporates integrated management of the requirements of the ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards, as well as those of CEFRI.

ŠKODA JS a.s. has also over the long term maintained the ability to design and produce nuclear equipment pursuant to the requirements of the American ASME Code Section III, which is another system used separately from the IMS.

The correct functioning of the integrated system is regularly examined by audits conducted by the supervisory organization, internal as well customer audits. The certification authority DNV-GL performs supervisory audits to check the company’s compliance with the requirements of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards. The IMS is audited by a third party in terms of its compliance with the welding standards ISO 3834-2 and 1090-2.

A crucial part of the activities of the Quality Assurance Department is customer qualifications, which confirm the company’s preparedness to ensure the quality of supplies in line with customer requirements. Contract and Project Quality Assurance

Apart from standard activities in ensuring contract quality in the company’s production (tracking causes of the occurrence of variances and deviations and searching for effective preventive measures to eliminate their recurrence), regular quality audits and quality inspections are conducted at the suppliers in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France and Germany.

The qualification of technical inspection personnel is maintained as required by the legislation applicable to non-destructive testing, ČSN EN ISO 9712, Czech legislation – Decree No. 309/2005 Coll., the ASME Code and the company’s internal IMS documentation.

Defectoscopy Testing Laboratory

Non-destructive defectoscopy testing is an integral part of the production process and contributes to meeting the strict criteria of the product quality control used in the nuclear power industry, where the emphasis is placed on nuclear safety.

The defectoscopy testing laboratory, accredited pursuant to ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17025, undergoes a regular supervisory audit by the Czech Accreditation Institute. Re-certification of personnel is carried out regularly every ten years in compliance with the ČSN EN ISO 9712 standard. Certifications are continuously renewed every five years pursuant to the above-mentioned standard and every three years pursuant to SNT -TC-1A, as required by the ASME Code.
