ŠKODA JS took over contractual documentation for Temelín NPP completion

31 October 2011, Prague : The representatives of ŠKODA JS, acting on behalf of the international MIR.1200 Consortium, took over the employer’s contractual documentation for elaboration of the MIR.1200 Consortium bid for completion of Temelín NPP. Units 3 and 4.

Předávání dokumentace“There starts a new stage of our cooperation not only with the Consortium partners but also with a wide spectrum of Czech power, engineering, chemical, construction, design, transport and logistic companies as well as with other potential collaborators and suppliers, " said Miroslav Fiala, the General Director of ŠKODA JS.  "In the course of the preparatory stage, we discussed the possibilities of cooperation, from now on we will be discussing concrete technical specifications of supply of machines, equipment and work, scopes, terms and price aspects."  

The MIR.1200 Consortium offers such a model of cooperation where at least 70% of work is done by Czech subjects based on a modern Russian design and essential Russian and European supplies of specific elements and technologies. This model guarantees creation of 10-20.000 job positions in the Czech Republic and maximal involvement of the entire Czech economy in the largest investment project in the country’s history. It is a model similar to the one which fully approved itself in the construction of Dukovany NPP and the first two units of Temelín NPP. There is no doubt both power plants are safe and fully reliable providers of a significant part of the electric power produced in our country.

The MIR.1200 Project whose implementation will be developed in the bid of the international consortium is based on well-tested and proven VVER technology which has been undergoing permanent improvement in the course of its continual development. It has resulted, for example, in a unique combination of elements of passive and active safety of the offered reactor. The design has indeed acquired the respective license in Russia, it also meets the EU requirements. Spent fuel removal and reprocessing is a part of the bid, too. The MIR.1200 Consortium bid guarantees construction of a modern power plant which technically, technologically, environmentally as well as from the safety point of view belongs to the to the world-class facilities.
