ŠKODA JS signed memorandum on cooperation with ROSATOM
Date: 25. 10. 2011
Prague, 25th October 2011: ŠKODA JS, together with 15 other Czech companies, signed a memorandum on cooperation with Rusatom Overseas, a Rosatom subsidiary. The memoranda define the basic conditions of long-term cooperation between the Czech signatories and Rosatom group in manufacture, assembly and construction of nuclear power plants with VVER-type reactors in the Czech Republic, Russian Federation and other countries.
The aim of cooperation is, among others, to achieve the following objectives:
- Conclusion of contracts for equipment supply for nuclear power plants built by Rosatom group
- Transfer of high technology and training of qualified staff to ensure the manufacture of equipment for the most up-to-date type of VVER unit from the Rosatom side
- Close cooperation in the bid preparation for the Temelín NPP Unit 3&4 Completion tender

Mr. Miroslav Fiala, the General Director of ŠKODA JS said: “Our company welcomes the opportunity to take part in this initiative. ŠKODA JS as a member of the MIR.1200 Consortium has already been closely cooperating with the Rosatom group in the preparation of the bid for Temelín NPP completion. However, the memoranda give us, beyond the scope of this cooperation, the opportunity to become integrated into the Rosatom group supply chain in a lot of third countries. There is no need to add what significant prospects from the viewpoint of economic development and employment these new contracts beyond the borders of the Czech Republic as well as the joint participation in Temelín completion will offer to us.”
The memoranda were signed during „Atomex Europe“, Nuclear Industry Suppliers Forum, which took place on 25 - 26 October at the National House of Vinohrady. The Atomex conference is held for the third time with the aim to increase the number of suppliers for the projects of nuclear power plants construction based on Russian technology in Russia and abroad. It affords the opportunity to improve the quality of services and technologies provided and to optimize investment sources.
