Date: 9. 6. 2015

The revenues of ŠKODA JS a.s., a member of the OMZ Group, reached CZK 3 billion in 2014. It was the fifteenth year in a row that the company has made a profit. The company's staff numbers have stabilized at 1,100, which makes ŠKODA JS a key employer in the region and industry, with its highly qualified employees capable of handling state-of-the-art technological procedures in production, service activities as well as in coordinating investment projects.

Last year's revenue reached CZK 2 billion 953 million, of which 50% came from exports. In 2014, ŠKODA JS a.s. posted a consolidated operating profit of CZK 100 million – according to IFRS. The value of new contracts was CZK 4 billion, which represents a 25% increase compared to the previous year. "This positive trend is going to continue this year as well; we are expecting to conclude further contracts worth approx. CZK 5 billion. We have already signed the first major contracts in the value of CZK 1 billion for the modernization of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, a contract for spent nuclear fuel casks for Temelín in the value of CZK 2.7 billion, with more contracts to follow," announced Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of ŠKODA JS a.s., Miroslav Fiala.

ŠKODA JS a.s. has been operating in the nuclear power industry for more than half a century and has played a key role in the production of all Czech and Slovak nuclear units as well as a number of projects abroad. The company cooperates with the biggest players in the nuclear power industry; it has business partners in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Russia, France, Germany and the USA, and is currently seeking a significant contract in Great Britain. The company has long cooperated with a number of Czech companies, including Sigma, Vítkovice, Chemcomex, ZAT, ÚJV Řež and many others.

ŠKODA JS does business in three areas:

The first is investment engineering, which contributes 48% to the company's results. In this area of business, ŠKODA JS supplies turnkey systems for nuclear power plants, from design documentation, coordination of suppliers to the installation and commissioning of systems. For example, the company has a decisive share in the most significant investment project in Slovakia – the completion of Units 3 and 4 at the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant, the modernization of the Temelín and Dukovany NPPs, and the Paks power plant in Hungary.

The second business segment, with a share of 21%, is the provision of services for operating nuclear power plants; the company is currently the supplier of comprehensive service activities for ČEZ at all of its six nuclear units. ŠKODA JS is to expand its offer of these activities also abroad, particularly where VVER-type units are operated.

The third pillar, with a 31% share, is the production of nuclear equipment, which is subdivided into two operations. The first is light mechanical engineering production of precise and sophisticated equipment related to the regulation and control of reactors; the second is heavy mechanical engineering production, where reactor internals are produced and assembled, and where casks for the transport and storage of spent nuclear fuel are manufactured. The company intends to continuously develop this promising segment in the future. Apart from the nuclear power industry, ŠKODA JS newly focuses on projects for the oil refining, petrochemicals and gas industries.
