A change in the company management of ŠKODA JS

Date: 21. 12. 2015

Upon the decision of the Board of Directors of ŠKODA JS a.s., as of January 1, 2016, Josef Perlík, a member of the Board and Director of the Engineering Division, becomes Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of ŠKODA JS a.s.

The former Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of ŠKODA JS a.s., Miroslav Fiala, left the post effective December 31, 2015. Mr. Fiala remains in the company as a member of the Board.

Under the leadership of Mr. Fiala, ŠKODA JS consistently achieved positive economic results, overcame the aftereffects of the financial crisis of 2009, the downturn in the nuclear energy industry following the Fukushima disaster as well as the impact of the cancellation of the Temelín tender. In 2015, the company won new contracts in the value of close to CZK 5 billion, which presents a 20% increase compared to the year before.

Josef Perlík has expressed his determination to follow up on the 60-year tradition of ŠKODA JS, a company that has been at the forefront of implementing cutting-edge technologies in our country. "Our core business will naturally continue to focus on the nuclear power industry. Apart from our activities in the Czech Republic, we have major projects in Slovakia and Hungary. We would also like to expand on a larger scale to other markets where we have a good tradition of operation and supplies of both technologies and engineering services. We want to win new contracts for our transport and storage casks program and we are prepared to offer services to VVER-type nuclear power plants outside the Czech Republic. Depending on the situation in the market, we can boost our program focusing on the petrochemicals and gas processing industry. At the same time, we want to try to expand into other industries and thus diversify our core business activity," summarizes the new Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director, Josef Perlík.

Josef Perlík (40) graduated from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. He has been working for ŠKODA JS since 2001. First he worked as a technological system designer and later held the position of sales manager for foreign subcontractors. In 2006, Josef Perlík became the company's Engineering Director and from 2007 he was in charge of ŠKODA JS's participation in the largest investment project in Slovakia, the completion of the Mochovce NPP. In 2011, Mr. Perlík was put in charge of the preparation of a bid by the MIR. 1200 international consortium in the tender for the completion of the Temelín NPP. In this position, Josef Perlík coordinated not only the activities of the members of the consortium, but also dozens of companies that were to participate in the project in all areas. He has been a member of the company's Board of Directors since 2010.
