ŠKODA JS has renewed ASME certification
Date: 23. 4. 2008
A few days ago, the Czech nuclear engineering company ŠKODA JS passed a recertification audit according to the regulations of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers – ASME Code, Section III, for the manufacture of nuclear equipment.
The audit included preparation of a demonstration order the final phase of which (welding, nondestructive testing, pressure test) was witnessed by the ASME auditors.
Manufacturing documentation related to the demonstration order was also reviewed within the audit as well as general quality assurance documentation. At the end of audit the audit team expressed their satisfaction with the demonstration order and the high level of manufacture quality assurance in the company. For ŠKODA JS it means that the validity of the ASME certificate, which the company owns, will be extended by further three years, until June 2010.
The successful recertification confirmed the traditionally high level of manufacture and has been an excellent recommendation which deservedly places the company among the world-known manufacturers of nuclear equipment. Currently, there are about ninety companies worldwide which are holders of certificates according to the ASME Code – nuclear section – two thirds of them being manufacturers from the U.S. and only fifteen from Europe.
