ŠKODA JS has secured its position at the Hungarian Paks NPP
Date: 22. 11. 2006
On Wednesday, 22 November 2006, ŠKODA JS and the Hungarian Paks Nuclear Power Plant signed a contract, operational from 2007 to 2010, and worth tens of million Czech crowns.
The contract is for the in-service inspection of the physical condition of material used in the pressure vessels at all four reactors of the above-mentioned power plant. ŠKODA JS was awarded this contract after winning the tender, which was announced on 30 May 2006 and concluded by the announcement of the winner on 8 November in the same year. Five companies entered for this tender, and by the final stage there were only two competitors left: ŠKODA JS and the Croatian company INETEC.

The said contract represents a significant workload for the Service Division at ŠKODA JS over the next four years. Furthermore, this can be seen as the company picking up the threads from previous jobs, i.e. the inspections of reactor pressure vessels at the Paks NPP, which took place during 1987–90, 1991–94 and 2003–2006. The company is going to utilize its vast expertise in the physical condition of material used inpressure vessels, as all the four reactors currently running at the Paks NPP were manufactured by ŠKODA JS.
From 1982 to 2006, ŠKODA JS company has carried out more then 70 operational and pre-operational inspections, of varying degrees, at the pressure vessels of both the VVER-440 and VVER-1000 type reactors in six Central and Eastern Europe countries, not to mention Armenia as well.
