PWR and BWR reactor internal parts

Production of reactor internals represents the main scope of equipment supplies for PWR (pressurized water reactor) and BWR (boiling water reactor) nuclear power plants. Two sets of modernized boiling water reactor internal parts were supplied to two units of Swedish Forsmark NPP. The equipment included the core support grid and shroud for each unit. These contracts were part of a programme for improvements in the safety and effectiveness of BWR nuclear power plants.

Similarly in 2004 and 2005, two sets of internal equipment for a reactor, i. e. reactor steam dryers were produced for two units of the Finish Olkiluoto BWR nuclear power plant.

A current project in ŠKODA JS concerns manufacture of internal parts and a support ring for a newly constructed pressurized water EPR-type reactor at Olkiluoto NPP, Finland. The customer is French contractor Areva NP which also ordered reactor internal pats handling device for the same project. Based on good references from the above project, ŠKODA JS concluded another contract with the same customer for manufacture of reactor internal parts for Unit 1 of newly constructed Taishan NPP, China.

This group of equipment also includes large parts for embedding of the reactor into its concrete pit. For Unit 1 of French Civaux NPP, ŠKODA JS manufactured a reactor pressure vessel support ring. This was a thick-walled welded structure weighting 46 tons.
