Hermetic cable penetrations
Hermetic cable penetrationsare designed to lead the power and control cables through the containment wall of the nuclear power plant. These penetrations allow for the running of both the feeding and control cables out of the thick concrete wall of the containment and ensure perfect fire resistance. They can be installed at standard nuclear power plants with the VVER, PWR and BWR reactors, as well as at experimental reactors.
Hermetic cable penetrations are manufactured by ŠKODA JS under licence from the American company IST/Conax. The range manufactured includes various construction types of IST penetrations, which comply with all the IEEE international standards for penetrations used in nuclear power. Up to now, ŠKODA JS has supplied more than 1,400 penetration units to Czech as well as foreign nuclear power plants.
