Equipment for VVER and RBMK Type of Nuclear Power Plants

VVER nuclear technology belongs into the group of PWR-type pressurized water reactors. ŠKODA JS has been working with this design for nearly forty years and so far it has manufactured total 21 complete reactors of the VVER 440/V-213 type and 3 reactors of the VVER 1000/V-320 type. In the period of nuclear power attenuation at the beginning of the 1990s, when no new reactors were being ordered, the company focused on upgrade and service lifetime extension of existing components, and also on supplies of spare parts.
In Europe and Asia, there are more than fifty VVER-type reactors in operation at present. Tens of others are currently under construction, or more precisely being planned. In relation to the upcoming revitalization of nuclear power industry, construction of new VVER –type units of so-called Generation III may be expected. ŠKODA JS is getting ready for such development, modernizes its production capacities and strengthens its teams of qualified staff.
