Construction of new VVER units
During the past thirty years, the system of primary circuit and fuel management has been supplied to ten nuclear units in the Czech Republic and Slovakia (Bohunice, Dukovany, Mochovce, Temelín). The contract included detail design, equipment manufacturing, procurement, installation on site, start-up and commissioning.
After years of stagnation and discussions regarding the long-term future of nuclear power, the nuclear power market is presently going through a revival period. This was proven by conclusion of a contract for completion of the nuclear island of Slovak Mochovce NPP, Unit 3&4 in 2009. This contract is currently the largest investment project of our company, where ŠKODA JS acts as one of five main contractors.
Another current investment project is the Dukovany NPP I&C System Refurbishment Project amounting to several billion CZK. ŠKODA JS, acting as the general contractor, will, in the course of planned outages until 2015, gradually replace the analogue I&C system with a new digital one. The revenues from investment engineering projects continuously represent a major part of the total company revenues.
The supply of key systems within the frame of Mochovce NPP Completion Project and Dukovany NPP I&C Refurbishment Project has been a great success, which underscores the leading position of our company among Czech suppliers of large investment units. Obtaining of these projects guarantees development and expansion in the field of nuclear power industry in future years. It will also enable upbringing of a new generation of experts, who will subsequently apply their skills and knowledge upon planned construction of new units in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and other countries.
